Bogibeel Bridge a step towards transformation through transportation: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicatewhile inaugurating the Bogibeel Bridge today develop northeast — Transformation through transport.
“Government is dedicated in developing Assam and northeast and this bridge is one of its step towards developing this region by tranformation through transportation,” said Modi while inaugurating the longest rail-cum road bridge at Kareng Chapori in Jorhat district.
He further said the day to be historic one for the people of Assam, PM said that the bridge would have completed by 2008 if BJP was voted to power back then.
“The construction work of Bogibeel bridge was started during the stint of Atal Bihari Bajpayee ji. The worked paused after the government was removed from power. Had Bajpayee led BJP been in power, the bridge would have been completed by 2008.”
Modi started his speech in Assamese while wishing the people of Assam ahead of Bhogali Bihu.
Modi also remembered the great warriors Lachit Borphukan, Chilarai, Chaolung Sukapha, Sati Joymoti and musical maestro Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
Modi also paid his sincere tribute to the ‘Nightingale of Assam’, Dipali Borthakur.
Inaugurating the most awaited India’s longest road-cum-rail bridge Bogibeel Bridge , Modi said today is Atal Bihari Bajpayee ji’s birth anniversay and we are celebrating the occasion as ‘Sushashan Divas’ (Good Governance Day).
This bridge will prove to be a boon for our army. Bogibeel bridge is not just a bridge. This is the lifeline connecting the lakhs of people. 24 hours journey will be completed just within 5-6 hours.
Modi also extended his gratitude to all those who who were directly involved in the construction work of the bridge.
“This is the third bridge constructed with 4 years over the mighty Brahmaputra.”
Modi ji announced that the BJP government has completed construction of 700 kilometres of the National Highway in 4 years. Besides, electrification of railway lines, Gas pipeline work between Guwahati to Tinsukia, construction of AIIMS, high speed internet, International submarine,
Modi said internet connectivity in the region is going to change rapidly as international submarine cable has reached Tripura and will reach Assam soon.
Modi said, ” Corruption affects the middle class and deprives the poor people of their rights. Our government has launched fight against black money and corruption.”
